Gamma
Walk Cycle

Personal Project (2024)

Software: Autodesk Maya

More about the module and my task:

During the summer holidays, I set myself a personal challenge: to learn how to animate a quadruped and deepen my understanding of animal body mechanics. This interest developed during my Industry Mentorship module, where I became inspired to expand my skillset beyond bipedal characters.

I focused on studying the core principles of quadruped movement, using the Gamma rig from Agora Community. This project was my first attempt at quadruped animation. I used references of real-life lionesses and other large cat species, as well as annotated the references to better understand how weight is distributed, the space and timing between each step, and a bit of anatomy study.

To improve and refine my work, I actively sought feedback from animation professionals at industry events such as "Bring Your Own Animation (BYOA)". Their insights helped me identify areas for development.
